YMCA Gold Instructor David Cain 

David is the company President for Computer - Business Network Consultants, LLC. Then for fun, he teaches SCUBA Diving at all levels, from recreational to public safety. Then to give back to his community, he works for the city of Nashville as a Public Safety Diver with the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management, Search and Recovery Dive team. David wrote the Standards and Procedures document for the Metro divers and works closely with the other Metro divers to ensure the safest and most effective dive team is always ready whenever Metro calls on them. To date this team has a 100% success rate and an average recovery taking less then 15 minutes underwater.

In 1959 the YMCA developed SCUBA training standards for instructors. These standards remain the most thorough and comprehensive in the diving industry today. When it comes to SCUBA certification, trust is an important aspect of training. As a YMCA SCUBA Instructor; David upholds the philosophy of the YMCA while building self-esteem and nurturing personal growth in divers. YMCA leadership prides itself in maintaining values. In a sport such as SCUBA diving, it is important for those participating to have values, good moral character and ethics. YMCA SCUBA Instructors instill character development in their students by promoting caring, honesty, respect and responsibility during dive training.

Instructor certification permits David to teach SCUBA students how to become competent divers. He endeavors to promote safe diving and upholding the standards of YMCA SCUBA. As a Gold level instructor, David also teaches many specialty and leadership courses. David holds a specialty as a SCUBA Lifesaving and Accident Management Instructor, and holds specialties in Underwater Search and Recovery , Underwater Crime Scene Preservation and Investigation; Public Safety Diver and Dive Rescue 1 thru Dive Rescue International.  He is current with DANO2 Provider, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
 

 
YMCA Assistant Instructor Bryan Givens 

YMCA Assistant Instructor certification is a required step in the development toward YMCA SCUBA Instructor. As an Assistant Instructor, Bryan teaches the YMCA Snorkeling and Skin Diving courses. During the Open Water course, Bryan assists in classroom training, pool training and the open water dives under direct supervision of the Instructor.

Bryan is a professional photographer and uses this knowledge to enhance his underwater photography. Bryan holds a specialty in SCUBA Lifesavingand Accident Management; Dive Rescue 1 thru Dive Rescue International.. He is current with DAN O2 Provider, CPR and FirstAid.

Bryan also serves his community as a public safety diver with the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management, Search and Recovery Dive team.

Matt Fuson 

Matt works for the Nashville Fire Department as an EMT. Matt also serves his community as a public safety diver with the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management, Search and Recovery Dive team.

As a YMCA Divemaster, Matt provides on-site leadership for groups of certified divers during recreational sport diving or for students during training under the direct supervision of the YMCA SCUBA Instructor. He conducts tours and supervises diving activities.As a Divemaster, he can work at dive resorts, on dive boats and in dive shops all over the world.

Matt has worked the Front desk at the Green Hills YMCA for many years, and has either volunteered or worked for the YMCA since hewas 11 years old. He is current with DAN O2 Provider, CPR for the ProfessionalRescuer, First Aid, Blood borne Pathogens, and SLAM Rescue Diver. Matt is also trained as a Public Safety Diver and Dive Rescue 1 thru Dive Rescue International.

David Crane 

David works for Wallboard Supply Company. David also serves his community as a public safety diver with the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management, Search and Recovery Dive team. He hold the rank of Captian over special operations.

David began his adventures in diving with a certification as a junior diver with NAUI at the age of 12. Since then, he has received several certifications from both PADI and the YMCA, and he continues to dive at every opportunity.

David holds his DAN O2 Provider, CPR and First Aid, Blood borne Pathogens,and YMCA SLAM Rescue Diver. David is also trained as a Public Safety Diver and Dive Rescue 1 thru Dive Rescue International.

Chris Young

Chris works as a Pharmacy Care Coordinator for Hemophilia Health Services. Chris also serves his community as a public safety diver with the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management, Search and Recovery Dive team.

Chris received YMCA Advanced Open Water certification in 1996 while attending MTSU with instructors Mike Nunley and Jerri Burch. Chris continued to dive recreationally till 2003 when he was enlisted as a YMCA Divemaster Candidate (DMIT) and YMCA SCUBA Teaching Assistant. Chris completed his Divemaster and is currently working towards his Assistant Instructor. He currently holds the following certifications in addition to his Divemaster: DAN O2 Provider, CPR and First Aid, YMCA SLAM Rescue Diver, Technical Divers International Basic Nitrox (soon to be Advanced Nitrox), and TDI Drysuit diver. Chris is also trained as a Public Safety Diver and Dive Rescue 1 thru Dive Rescue International. Chris has made several dives in Nassau, Grand Bahamas, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize, and several different states in Mexico.

Michelle Weisbecker

Michelle is the one we thank for all of those wonderful gift baskets you get when you arrive at your destination while traveling on one of our trips. She plans dive trips and pulls together the marketing of these and other activites we do at the Y for YSCUBA. She also spends time in the pool helping out with our SCUBA classes and offering that extra help in learning to clear a mask or buddy breathing. By day she is a company Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. While on vacation she makes our trips fun and exciting.
