Learning to SCUBA Dive

Since 1959 the YMCA has trained divers. Longer than anyone else. We have the best safety record in the business.

Upon completion of all classroom, pool, and open water dives, the student will receive a certification card, and a wall certificate. You will be certified as a YMCA Open Water Diver.

Your Training at the Y

We have a schedule for our classes. We don't collect names and then when we have 20 people we hold a class. We have a 3:1 student to instructor ratio. So you will get the attention you need.

Our staff at the Green Hills Family YMCA are all trained rescue divers. See if anyone else in Tennessee can say that. That's right, we all work as Public Safety divers. Trained to the highest standards and recertify annually.

Our accomplishments are known. Today, as yesterday, no sport diver in the world is better trained than the man or woman who has met the high standards of YMCA SCUBA.

In the 40 years since our inception, YMCA SCUBA continues to provide the highest level of community-oriented education for divers and instructors based on the principles of the YMCA triangle: the Spirit, the Mind and the Body. These principles are the core philosophy of the YMCA, and YMCA SCUBA bases all training and programs on these ideals.
